Forest School
Forest school is a child- centered approach to learning outdoors the supports play, exploration and supported risk taking. It helps learners develop socially, emotionally, spiritually, physically and intellectually. It creates a safe, non-judgemental nurturing environment for learners to try stuff out and take risks. Forest School inspires a deep and meaningful connection to the world and an understanding of how a learner fits within it.
We have our very own forest school on site run by a member of staff, Mrs Murray. Each class is able to take part in a number of forest school sessions and these enhance and develop their awareness of their surroundings through a range of exciting activities such as:
- Hammock hanging
- Natural sculpture or musical instruments
- Making fires
- Supervised tool use to create with
" There is no such thing as bad weather, just unsuitable clothing," Alfred Wainwright.
