Applying for a place at Westbury Leigh CE Primary School
Westbury Leigh CE Primary School is now part of the Palladian Academy Trust and as such is now its own admission authority. We will follow the school admissions policy below, which applies solely to applications for places within Westbury Leigh CE Primary School.
Starting school for the first time in EYFS
Starting big school is the beginning of a great adventure for children; we work closely with the local pre-schools, parents and carers to ensure we are fully aware of every child's need and can ensure a smooth and seamless transition.
To ensure that children are prepared and ready for school we host a number of induction events that take place in the summer term and these include where possible:
- Welcome events
- Home visits
- Graduated start to school
- Additional visits for those who may benefit from this
These events are a great opportunity for children to meet their teacher and their peers. The events also help children to become familiar with the school environment to enable them to feel more confident when they attend in September.

Moving onto secondary school
In Year 6, we begin to plan their transition to secondary school, giving children the opportunity to visit their chosen school and completing activities in preparation for this new start.
Where further support is needed, we can tailor a more bespoke plan in consultation with parents and the secondary school.
